Trusting With The Truth
It will be a painless process, Agent Maine.
Matt rolled his eyes, not bothering to argue against that comment from the Counselor. He didn't believe it in the slightest, of course. Similar things had been told to him throughout his life. It had been a particularly amusing thing to hear when everything was compared to the augmentations when he was a teen, and here he was, three decades later, knowing nothing Freelancer can dish out would even begin to compare.
So, when directed, 'Agent Maine', formerly SPARTAN Matt-020, stretched himself out on the procedure table. Unlike other Freelancers his neural net wouldn't even need upgrade for the whole process. Just a swap-out of a port, given it didn't seem like they were using a system compatible with what the SPARTAN project had expected.
Maine just closes his eyes and wills himself to sleep, waiting for the point when the AI would come online in his head.
